Christmas Eve Traditions:

Christmas Eve traditions change over the years but this is our 4th year doing Santa Run with our Fire Department- My husband is one of the  Assistant Chief's with Seymour Volunteer Fire Department in Seymour, TN. We will be having some family time with my in-laws this afternoon, followed by delivering Secret Santa presents to a very special little girl and then going to Santa Run.
Today is all about the children in our lives and community. Spreading Love, Peace and Joy to all those we encounter today.
What are your traditions on this special day?
Merry Christmas Eve!!

The Who and Where of Social Media Users:

Social media is a blur of  tweets, shares and content. No longer is it just used by the young and the restless. It is global and embedded in every corner of the web.
So some questions. Which age groups are using social media, what countries are big Facebook users and what percentage are using mobile to access social media?
This is the who and the where of  social media users.
  1. 72% of all internet users are now active on social media
  2. 18-29 year olds have an 89% usage
  3. The 30-49 bracket sits at 72%
  4. 60 percent of 50 to 60 year olds are active on social media
  5. In the 65 plus bracket, 43% are using social media
  6. Time spent on Facebook per hour spent online by country. Here are the top three. USA citizens get the top gong at 16% followed by the Aussies at 14 minutes and the Brits at 13 minutes.
  7. 71% of users access social media from a mobile device.
The paradigm of social media only being used by the younger generation should be put to rest now.

Let's Talk About Word of Mouth Referrals!

I was looking through quotes this evening and this one really struck me hard…. “One customer, well taken care of, could be more valuable than $10,000 worth of advertising.”  – Jim Rohn, Motivational Speaker
TNT Marketing has been very blessed this year with referrals, both given to us and given to business owners we value. This quote hit me hard this evening because twice in the last 3 months I have heard some really bad business branding and marketing directly from a local business owner.
One instance this owner private messaged a client  and told them "I do not want no christian like people in my business" ….. excuse me? This is horrible branding for your business, this message will spread like wild fire through the community. I personally have not visited that establishment since and neither have many people who know of this instance.
Friday night I was going to meet friends for dinner and as we discussed where to go I said " I'm open to anywhere except place X." Told my reason and one said to me I agree because of what happened to us this week…. One of our local schools contacted this business owner and asked for a gift card for the faculty dinner and were told no, "I will not give you a gift card, I can help your school raise thousands of dollars but I will not give you a gift card for someone to only use once here." WOW,  I am still having a hard time grasping this. These two instances are incredible to me. So, now all the teachers know this and probably won't go back but imagine the spread of I will not eat there because….
Bad service, customer service multiplies like rabbits where good service and experience is much harder to get the word out.
Word of mouth referrals are golden to a business, as a business owner everything you do is your business brand. Having a total customer experience is key.  Think about every smile you give, every conversation you have…. you never know where your next referral may come from.

Social Media Plays a Crucial Role With Online Branding!

Social media plays a crucial role when it comes to building your brand online – it allows you to be visible and available in the virtual world so you can expand your success in the real world. If you were to look at the most successful brands across social media there is a common thread – they all have consistent branding. Being both visible and available isn’t enough. The success of your social media efforts will suffer greatly if you do not have consistency in your messaging and visual branding.
Consistency is one of the most important, yet overlooked elements in marketing. You wouldn’t purchase a billboard that has a completely different look, feel and message then the television spot you’re currently running. Then why would you want your company sending mixed messages on different social channels? You wouldn’t. It’s important that your company’s tone, message and image are consistent throughout not just your traditional media outlets, but throughout your entire media ecosystem.
