The Who and Where of Social Media Users:

Social media is a blur of  tweets, shares and content. No longer is it just used by the young and the restless. It is global and embedded in every corner of the web.
So some questions. Which age groups are using social media, what countries are big Facebook users and what percentage are using mobile to access social media?
This is the who and the where of  social media users.
  1. 72% of all internet users are now active on social media
  2. 18-29 year olds have an 89% usage
  3. The 30-49 bracket sits at 72%
  4. 60 percent of 50 to 60 year olds are active on social media
  5. In the 65 plus bracket, 43% are using social media
  6. Time spent on Facebook per hour spent online by country. Here are the top three. USA citizens get the top gong at 16% followed by the Aussies at 14 minutes and the Brits at 13 minutes.
  7. 71% of users access social media from a mobile device.
The paradigm of social media only being used by the younger generation should be put to rest now.

Let's Talk About Word of Mouth Referrals!

I was looking through quotes this evening and this one really struck me hard…. “One customer, well taken care of, could be more valuable than $10,000 worth of advertising.”  – Jim Rohn, Motivational Speaker
TNT Marketing has been very blessed this year with referrals, both given to us and given to business owners we value. This quote hit me hard this evening because twice in the last 3 months I have heard some really bad business branding and marketing directly from a local business owner.
One instance this owner private messaged a client  and told them "I do not want no christian like people in my business" ….. excuse me? This is horrible branding for your business, this message will spread like wild fire through the community. I personally have not visited that establishment since and neither have many people who know of this instance.
Friday night I was going to meet friends for dinner and as we discussed where to go I said " I'm open to anywhere except place X." Told my reason and one said to me I agree because of what happened to us this week…. One of our local schools contacted this business owner and asked for a gift card for the faculty dinner and were told no, "I will not give you a gift card, I can help your school raise thousands of dollars but I will not give you a gift card for someone to only use once here." WOW,  I am still having a hard time grasping this. These two instances are incredible to me. So, now all the teachers know this and probably won't go back but imagine the spread of I will not eat there because….
Bad service, customer service multiplies like rabbits where good service and experience is much harder to get the word out.
Word of mouth referrals are golden to a business, as a business owner everything you do is your business brand. Having a total customer experience is key.  Think about every smile you give, every conversation you have…. you never know where your next referral may come from.

Social Media Plays a Crucial Role With Online Branding!

Social media plays a crucial role when it comes to building your brand online – it allows you to be visible and available in the virtual world so you can expand your success in the real world. If you were to look at the most successful brands across social media there is a common thread – they all have consistent branding. Being both visible and available isn’t enough. The success of your social media efforts will suffer greatly if you do not have consistency in your messaging and visual branding.
Consistency is one of the most important, yet overlooked elements in marketing. You wouldn’t purchase a billboard that has a completely different look, feel and message then the television spot you’re currently running. Then why would you want your company sending mixed messages on different social channels? You wouldn’t. It’s important that your company’s tone, message and image are consistent throughout not just your traditional media outlets, but throughout your entire media ecosystem.

The Call That Made My Day!

This afternoon after my husband and I ran errands we cam home for lunch. After lunch the watching of SEC football started…. GO VOLS- #GBO for my husband and GO BAMA- #ROLLTIDE for me!!
Sitting on the couch my phone rang, I answered to a client calling this afternoon just to tell me thank you and how much he appreciated my social media concierge work for him, he knew SM was a big thing now but didn't know how important it was and what impact it could have for him until the past week since we started. He went on to tell me he is already getting compliments and seeing results from one week of us managing his accounts.
What a great Saturday! Call those you do business with and say thank you, send thank you gifts and cards. TNT Marketing appreciates each and every client we have and look forward to long relationships with them!

Bartering is Great for Marketing and Your Business!

Barter gives a small business access to new markets and customers. Through bartering, small businesses use a new marketing channel to offer products. Bartering lets you interact with new businesses and make new contacts. This helps develop new markets and expands your marketing dollars.
Many companies involved in barter work in some aspect of the advertising business, whether it’s graphic design, printing, layout, audio/visual production, newspaper ad sales or broadcasting ad sales. In many cases, barter with these types of businesses can help improve the quality of your company’s advertising campaign and marketing materials.
Bartering also helps generate referrals. As a small business barters, it extends its outreach and contacts new customers. This in turn helps generate referrals that can bring cash-paying customers to your door.
Barter gives a small business immediate access to a network of other businesses. In some cases, these contacts may lead to cash sales outside the barter exchange, expanding the market for no additional marketing cost.

Are you open to a Barter?

Social Media is the New Search!

“Social Media is the New Search”
You might hear some market observers refer to social media as being the “new search.” This means that for a larger number of individuals, when they need to look for an answer to a problem or need they have, are more likely to look to their online social networks for possible solutions rather than use a search engine such as Google or Bing. #SocialMedia #Marketing

Why does my Business Need Social Media?

Many business owners have misconceptions or may not understand why their business needs to actively participate in social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter.
First, whether your business is using social media or not, your customers are! According to recent research conducted by The Pew Research Center, “…65% of adult internet users now say they use a social networking site like Facebook or LinkedIn, up from 61% one year ago. This marks the first time in Pew Internet surveys that 50% or more of all adults use social networking sites.” Social networking is one of the fastest-growing media segments that businesses are now using to reach out to their current and potential clients on a daily basis.
Thanks to businesses using social media, they are often found sooner on web searches such as Google and Bing. Facebook and Twitter are considered “social signals” that draw attention during internet searches. The more people who are participating on your Facebook, Twitter and business webpage, the more likely you are found when a new customer “Googles” your business.
Often social media is either free or has very little cost for your business. Think about that. An outlet that over half of adults are currently utilizing may not cost your business anything! TNT Marketing can show you how to use this powerful tool and create an internet presence that will reach out to your customers, as well as those who may be looking for you and your services.
Lastly, social media does not need to be a mystery to you and your business. Allow our experts at TNT Marketing to further explain this fantastic medium to reach your clients and professionally set up business pages for you. What are you waiting on? Your customers are already there! #SocialMediaConcierge tracy@tntmarketing.guru

Stay Active on Social Media during the Holidays!

Simply saying Stay Active isn't enough….. As we have discussed before SM is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can not fall short on engagement and interaction across your social media profiles during this Holiday Season. Each year right after Halloween our culture dives into Holiday mode, Christmas things are out in stores, Santa is out in malls earlier, Elf on the Shelf lasts longer and more!
Our family loves Holiday's! But we take October for Halloween, November is for Thanksgiving and starting the day after Thanksgiving Christmas is on!
So…. Yes, things tend to slow down around the holidays. However, ours is not a nine-to-five world anymore; social media and mobile devices pretty much did away with that concept. Far too many businesses and brands will take the holidays off from their social media duties. Yet this is precisely when you need to be even more active, for this is the time when your customers, particularly those of the retail variety, will be more social media active and aware.
Oh, and in case you forgot this little point too, customer service never takes a day off. Ever! If someone Tweets you or leaves you a message on Facebook re: an issue or concern or question, you darn well better be there to answer them and in a timely manner. Otherwise, you might as well put a sign like this one to the right up on your Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites.

Some November Thankfulness……

Daily thanks posts I will never complete….
However, in this FireFighter House we are thankful every single day…. Every day we choose to be thankful and have grateful hearts….
We give hugs, We Love, We have fun, We make mistakes and we forgive, We give second chances…. and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
We make time for each other daily (sometimes this is only a text or phone conversation), We are patient and understanding, We are caring and we share….. We are ok with plan B needed to be flexible, we give support to each other in personal and business parts of our lives….. The Taylor house is grateful, thankful and blessed!

Social Media Marketing and SEO!

I have had several conversations this week around SEO and Social Media Marketing. These two and your company website in fact go hand in hand, many business owners feel and think they are separate issues when they are not.
Social Media Marketing, often tied to your website can increase your SEO by using keywords and hashtags.
Look at your business social media accounts as the largest compliment to your SEO goal, use your profiles to your advantage and make them your best friend!

Linkedin….

Having lots of conversations this week with business owners who are new to social media I am hearing "I don't know about this Linkedin"
Here is a small break down of how to get started on Linkedin-

  • LinkedIn
    • Create a LinkedIn profile and add links to your website: Update your profile with new links, product reviews, books or articles that you are reading, or other information so that this information appears to all the people in your network.
    • Join LinkedIn groups that may be popular with many of your customers, and frequently post questions or comments related to the products or services you offer.
    • Ask your customers as well as vendors and other business associates in your network to provide a recommendation for you or your business in LinkedIn.
    • Add brochures, PDFs, SlideShare and PowerPoint presentations, and videos to your profile under the Summary section to provide interesting content that anyone viewing your profile can download or share.

Take Time for YOU!

Today was one of those mornings where my husband and I took a chance to be a little lazy… Being married to a Firefighter and Assistant Chief at our local Volunteer Department sometimes we need a few hours to rest and then take on the day. He had an early call and I got the dogs taken care of and then we decided to lay back down, almost 3 hours later we woke up. Take time for yourself. Rest is good and needed to keep the creative mind going! Listen to your body, if you need sleep then sleep… Wake recharged and ready to take on the day!
Happy Wednesday all, Have a GREAT day!!

Sharing Content Multiple Times on Social Media:

If you are serious about your content, then you also need to be serious about driving as much traffic to it (over social media) as possible.
One great way to do this is to share your content on social media more than once. Sounds pretty simple, right?
Let’s take a look at a hypothetical example:
Twitter- 10 clicks
Facebook- 14 clicks
Google+- 4 clicks
Scheduled post- 24 clicks!
Share your content different times throughout the day, your audience isn't always online at the same times each day.

So, How Much Impact Can Social Media Really Have On Your Business?

You know social media is trending, it is the future of sales…. but just how big of an impact can it actually have on your business?
Every household in america has at least one social media account….. How many do you have? Between my husband and I we currently have 8, for now… growing all the time, and then the kids have their own accounts too.
This summer two huge challenges went viral, the ALS challenge raised over $15 million dollars, $580,000 since August, that number is 10 times their normal revenue raised from August 1st through today.
If you were active on social media in the right way what can your business do in the 4th quarter of 2014?
Be engaging on social media, be active daily across all of your profiles, own the relationship to your social media accounts, promote them and be proud of them!

Social Media Profiles and Interviews:

My husband came home the other day and shared with me a story… It went something like this….
We own a Marketing company that specializes in social media concierge and you always say things about our personal profiles and educate people on how important it is to keep your image clean and professional, you know one of our friend's interviewed with THP- Tennessee Highway Patrol this week?  My answer yes! Have you heard how that went?
My husband proceeds to tell me yes, and you will never believe what happened… Physical test- aced! Awesome! Interview #1 went great and on to interview #2… went great and at the very end the interviewer asked our friend "Do you have a Facebook page?" Our friend- "yes" the interviewer then turns his computer monitor around and slid the keyboard to him and said "great, log in for me"
Of course our friend keeps a good clean professional profile but this goes to show you just one example of how your social media profiles can impact your job!

Keep it clean and professional!

Are you using Social Media correctly?

Having conversations this week with business owners gave me the notion to present a blog post on my findings this week.  What did I find this week you may be wondering at this point? I learned this week that many business owners do not know how to use social media to really grow their business and in some cases are not even marketing their business correctly at all.
Marketing is all about getting your message out there into the hands of your future clients, presenting to them who your business is, what you do and how hiring you benefits them. What stands you out from your competition?
Social media can be a great avenue for increasing marketing efforts into daily activity, building relationships with your connections is key…. build them and see what happens.
A few things to reflect on about your marketing and social media….
Does your website and social media define who you are? Do your posts reflect what your company does? Are you active enough on social media (4-8 posts a day) to build relationships that can grow your business?

When companies join the social channels, consumers can interact with them and they can communicate with consumers directly.
That interaction feels more personal to users than traditional methods of strictly outbound marketing & advertising. #SocialMedia

TNT Marketing presents Tammy Hardin, The UnEmotional Eater

My name is Tammy Hardin and I am the UnEmotional Eater. I had tried every diet known to man it feels like. I wasn't lacking information. Actually I beat myself up constantly because I knew “what” to do but didn't have the “willpower” to follow through. It was so darn frustrating. The yo – yo expensive diets, the temporary weight loss, the clothes in multiple sizes, the disappointment, the humiliation. You get the picture.

But in all honesty I was working on the wrong thing. Food wasn't my problem it was just the place I went when I got stressed out. I also had this internal thing that told me I was supposed to be Tubby Tammy. With those two things at work it didn't matter what diet you put me on or what was going on in my life I invariably sabotaged my body.

And then I found a method of literally reprogramming my brain enabling me to eat to the foods I wanted to eat and weigh what I wanted to weigh. Sounds too good to be true I know. But after years of research, years of struggling I was able to find a program that would allow me to be comfortable and ease around food. I can literally take it or leave it alone. I can choose to eat the cookie or walk away.
When I tell the clients I work with today that fact they are amazed. You see they too know what it is like to be driven to get out of bed in the night to go get ice cream or fill in your blank. They too know what it is to have to eat ALL of it until it is out of the house. They too know what it is like to feel that emotional humiliation to keep gaining and losing the same weight over and over again.

3 Ways to Elevate Your Business By Lisa Hall

3 Ways To Elevate Your Business:
Most small business owners I sit down with do not have a plan or a system created in their business that allows them to look back at their performance quarterly. Most take a quick glance at their numbers and move on. Some don’t even do that, they just keep pushing ahead. This is one of the most critical pieces of your business growth and a system that should be implemented into ALL businesses. You see, you cannot plan for growth, evaluate where money is being spent in your business, or create projections if you do not pause for a moment and look at what is working and what is not working. If you fail to look back at your achievements (and your failures) you may even find yourself in the wrong place all together making your goals dreams and not a destination.
Here are some areas of your business that you cannot afford to overlook.
Do more than compare the “actual” and “plan.” Here look to see if you exceeded your plan or if you fell short. Were results impacted by external and or internal factors? Go beyond the surface and dig deep here. What were those factors that impacted your goals?
Reevaluate your goals. Determine if you reached your goals or fell short. And THEN… if you fell short, create the smaller goals you will need to reach in order to meet the goal you set out last quarter. Did you reach your goals? Evaluate what helped you along the path towards the goals you reached. Can you duplicate that process to help you reach more of your goals next quarter?
Remember, revenue is important but it’s not everything. Yes, we all need to evaluate our revenue but also notice details such as expansion, personnel, new products, and services and those areas that will bring revenue later on but may not be cash in hand at the moment (lead generation).
As you put your own process in place to evaluate your business on a monthly or quarterly basis, the process itself will become more comfortable. My suggestion is to put a monthly or quarterly meeting on your calendar in which you spend time looking back at all aspects of your business so that you can then create and plan your goals moving forward.
Do you have a suggestion for assessing business? What’s been the best way for you to stay on top of your goals?
