The $5 Donation

As I was working today, waiting to speak to a manager to renew an ad with a local high school I was browsing through the store when i paused at the counter. On the counter was a photo picture of a puppy with a sign needing to have surgery. There is a letter explaining why, the little girl, age 9 ahead of me asked the clerk about it and the clerk explained to her who the puppy was and why she needs surgery. I saw the little girl look at the picture again and then reach in her purse and pull out a $5 bill, she put it in the donation cup. Her Mom and I both commented to her that was very sweet, she smiled and then checked out her purchase. How sweet, this touched my heart.

Pay It Forward/Gift Forward

Sitting here on this night before Christmas Eve, have we purchased all our gifts? Have we gotten all the cards sent? Are there any last minute things to purchase tomorrow?
But the most important question is have we passed on our blessings to others this season? The answer is yes, we have done for those in our own families and also for two other families. In our home we Pay It Forward/Gift Forward several times of year but especially during the Holiday's.
Giving is not done for recognition but simply because we can and want to.
It is heartwarming to see others receive and have Joy when they can.
It doesn't have to be much but please add Gift Forward to someone to your Holiday list.

Merry Christmas from our house to yours,
Rob & Tracy Taylor

6 Excuses By Small Businesses for Not Doing Social Media-

These are some of the excuses TNT Marketing hears daily from small business owners when they have yet to create a Facebook page, Twitter or Linkedin profile page and even a blog. Frankly, none of these excuses justify not being engaged in social media marketing for your business.

"My customers don't use the internet"

"Business doesn't happen online. I have to get in front of my customers to make the sale."

"Social Media is something for those who want to follow celebrities and dancing with the stars, It's not for my small business."

"We risk not being able to control the conversation. What if someone says something negative?"

"How do we know what return we get from social media?"

"We don't have the time to do social media."

Any of these sound familiar to you?
It's time to stop making excuses and get your business into social media, call TNT Marketing and have your profiles live and working for you.

Tiffany Hunt: I am a licensed veterinary technician and marketing executive for Melaleuca, the Wellness Company. Being in the medical field, I continually see the harmful effects of the toxins in common household products. From these products, I have seen pets develop asthma and have toxicities due to ingestion, inhalation, and/or skin absorption. As a marketing executive, I show people how to shop for safer products that are less expensive than what they are currently spending at the grocery store by redirecting their shopping to Melaleuca.

Mix up your Marketing~

Business Owners think daily of new marketing ideas and strategies. Take it back to the basics and be simple… Mix up your Marketing.
Listening to the same song over and over is boring, right? This applies to marketing also. Don't be a broken record, your clients will stop paying attention.
Use multiple channels to increase awareness and drive business and find customers who will commit to buy your products and services.
Mix it up like a 1990's cassette tape; use email, print, direct mail, social media, radio and mobile.

Mix it up!

Marketing Do Not's:

We often ask ourselves what are the do's and do not's for marketing within our business… Here are a few do nots..

Do not try to sell your products and services to everyone.

Assume that all consumers will purchase your products or services for the same reasons.

Expand into new markets, explore all possibilities within your current client base.

Overdo promo pricing or special offers.

Package your products and services in a way that conflicts with the brand image for your company.

Market your products and services to the wrong market.

Happy Do Marketing!

A Place of YES! How we found ours~

So, a few years ago I read the book A Place of YES by Bethenny Frankel. This book was amazing and changed my outlook on life and for business purposes.  This book says it all and opens your life on how to live in your place of yes.
These 10 tips/rules as Bethenny calls them are perfect for personal and business-
1- Break the Chain- Surviving Childhood
2- Find your Truth- I finally met my match, this was true for me a little over two years ago when I started dating the man who became my husband 6 months later… a successful marriage 2 years and counting. I found the person who accepted my past, was a part of my present and wanted to live my dreams for our future.
3- Act on it- My Dreams Evolve- Our dreams became one as we talked about what we wanted from life and now we own a business, TNT Marketing.
4- Everything's your Business- Finding my stride as an Entrepreneur, This chapter spoke volume to me with tips for owning my own business.
5- All roads lead to Rome
6- Go for Yours! This is so true for us, Why make and build everyone else's empire… build your own! We own our business TNT Marketing and my husband is looking to start his own business in the spring. Go for Yours, Go for No.. Get through the no's to find your yes'
7- Separate from the Pack- surround yourself with those who build you up and are along for your ride in life.
8- Own it! Don't make excuses and reason why you can't, it can't or whatever! Get out and go for it..Own your choices and your life! Love the life you live!
9- Come Together, be at peace with your choices and life that you have created.
10- Celebrate! The business of being happy… This is a wonderful reminder for every single day. Celebrate that you are alive and kickin'

Build a life and business that you are proud of every single moment of every single day. Give yourself credit and be proud of you.

Pssst… Marketing is about Relationships…

It takes a ton of work to do marketing for your business and brand. One key component to marketing success is relationships.
Every day, everywhere you go you are marketing your business and brand. From how you dress to what you say on Facebook builds relationships. Sometimes a simple hello at the grocery store or walmart starts a conversation that over time builds a relationship that is later used in business and beneficial to both parties. While having all the materials to hand out at events or when doing business the relationships you build will be what builds your business and brand.
Word of mouth we have heard for years is awesome…. pssst… word of mouth is FREE! Make people want to give referrals to you, when someone asks a question you should be at the top of the list for i have someone for you to call, let me get you their contact information.
Every day i share my contacts and pass out business cards. I want to give referrals, they come back to me. Why should I give you a referral tomorrow?

Blogging and Social Media Marketing-

Blogging. The more content on your site, the more opportunities there are for search engines to pick it up. Blogging can be a great (and free!) way to generate leads and links into your site. But don’t just be producing content to produce content. Write quality blog posts that will engage the readers.
Guest blogging on more established blogs is another way to get more traffic to your own site.
Social media.Don’t just sign up for these services and then forget about them. Start being active on social media. These sites should be used to promote your blog posts and communicate with customers.
However, most people don’t follow companies on social media unless the company gives them a reason to. So, of course, give them a reason!

Brand Yourself:

Many ask why is Branding so important? Here is why and how:Set yourself apart from the competition. There are thousands of companies trying to sell products on the Internet. Thus, you need to make your brand unforgettable. This begins with your website. Your domain name should be your company’s name if at all possible. If there are other companies online with names similar to yours, you may even want to consider changing your name to one that will not be easily confused with another product. Acquiring a domain name has a fee involved, but using a hosting service is very affordable even for the smallest budgets.
The way you want your brand to be viewed by customers is really up to you. But once you figure it out be consistent and stick with it. Having a professional website and a strong social media presence is important here, but you should also take the time to interact with potential customers and build relationships with them. The main cost involved in this step is just the man hours put into the process, which will drastically be reduced when you’ve established your brand.

Life as a Firefighter's Wife:

Life as a Firefighter Wife.... You could have never prepared me for this.... You could have never told me that life after thirty is simply amazing.
I met my husband walking around a track, we waved for about  year and then one day we spoke... history from there. The best choice I had ever made was to open my heart up one more time. This is where it all began, I had to learn his schedule as a Firefighter.
Dating a Firefighter taught me several things I needed some brushing up on.. patience and flexibility are the first two. As time went by and we became more serious I discovered this wasn't just his career but a life I really enjoyed being a part of.
Fast forward 5 months later and his stepdad called me daughter in law one afternoon, my mouth dropped because from day one we both said NO to marriage. I ad been married before and he had not and we agreed to be ok with not getting married. Now the conversations have started and we both had a change of heart and wanted to be Mr. and Mrs. Thinking of this amazing man who showed me opening my heart up one more time was more than worth it as my Husband had me beaming like never before. The more I thought about this the more I wanted it.
A month later, May 3, 2012 we took the plunge and said I Do! Now... I am his wife, and a Firefighter's Wife- Wow!
Being a Firefighter's Wife has taught me deeper meaning to love, patience, courage, flexibility, caring and sharing. The phrase "be careful, I love you" has a new meaning, say it every time he leaves from tones dropping.
To say that I am proud and supportive is an understatement, I love my Husband and his career choice, Being a Firefighter household is teamwork and dedication.
I love our schedule and we as husband and wife make the best of it, even i crazy times we love it.
So, as we all get mushy and emotional around the Holiday months this is my moment, not only this evening but everyday. I love being a Firefighter's Wife and would not change it for the world!

Proud Firefighter's Wife

Does your Linkedin profile work for you?

Linkedin, or sometimes called your online resume is a professional network built around one's employment capabilities.
Here are a few quick tips to share that can increase the value of your Linkedin profile.

Write to be Read- Make sure people can tell what you do and the value in what you do.

Make your job descriptions work in two ways- Be clear that you are happily employed, and second allow people to be able to see you working on their issues.

Recommendations are your Friends- Always ask for referrals and be willing to give them in return.

Connection Strategies- Be sure to be friends with people you know personally and also those in your industry.

Some last thoughts, check your contact settings, be explicit who you want to connect with. Consider the photo you upload, is it business like? Most important photo tip- use a current photo. Update your profile at least every three months.

For help in this remember TNT Marketing has social media concierge services. For additional information

As the Holiday's are right on our back door one thinks about traditions. As we get older and have our own lives and get married we continue and/or start new traditions, this is very true in our home this year.. This is our third Holiday season together, second as husband and wife with merged families and friends. This year we will be cooking in our new home and having family and friends over. Both my husband and I enjoy hosting the get together.
Coming from a place of two only children we have family traditions to continue and some small changes to create our own.
My husband is a Firefighter/EMT so being flexible is something we are used to. We enjoy our family and also the family that the Fire life creates so our home is open to all on any given day, especially holidays, no one we know will be alone on a holiday.
As I am doing this post the ideas of our menu are running through my mind... Fried turkey, mac and cheese, green beans, stuffing, corn, potatoes, deviled eggs and of course several dessert items- pumpkin pie, Carmel pie, cream cheese Reese bars.

My wish for anyone who sees this blog post is for everyone to have a happy holiday filled with friends, family, love, laughter and good food.

Light a special candle for those loved ones who can't join us in person who have passed.

Bring peace with you to spread to everyone you are with.

Happy Thanksgiving!

4 Key Marketing Strategies

Key Marketing strategies to assist you in 2014 and beyond.

Be Purposeful- In order to establish yourself as a thought leader it is crucial for you to be purposeful in your strategy. Don't do something just to check a box.
Before you decide to jump in feet first... take a step back and evaluate the following....

Does the initiative help establish credibility for your brand?
Will you be reaching influencers and decision makers?
How will you measure this success?

New Tactics: Make them happen quickly- To begin a new marketing strategy you and your team must act quickly and on an aggressive timeline.

Use trail and error then scale- When executing new initiatives, embrace the process of trial and error. Carefully watch the initiatives and if it works double down. if it doesn't work, tweek it, try again and if this time it is not a success drop it.

Improve what is working- This may seem like a no brainer and very obvious. It's easy to say don't fix what isn't broken but it is vital to continue to improve every line of your marketing strategy.
